Overdue Update and coach conversions.

Been a while!
I've not done a lot more to the layout BUT I have started to wire it and also use slide switches to control the points through a combination of both WIT (wire in tube) and also using wire and cranks under the layout.

In the meantime I have actually started to do some modelling again......kitbashing, same dif!
I have been converting some of the old Hornby D95 Brake thirds into D88,D118 and the last into a E128 Brake Composite.

These are NOT hard conversions and can be done in a day each.

I have also converted the same series composite that was available and still is second hand into a C54 All Third.

Of note is that I have used the first class compartments in the E128 conversion.
I haven't written a step by step but the pics should tell you the story of where I have added what.
another thing of note is that when doing these conversions, you need to align the front of the vehicle pieces as best you can and NOT rely on the flat backs as the thickness of the injection mouldings varied over the length of the coaches.
The white sections in the coaches is 40thou styrene that has been filed down to match the adjacent sections of coach with Tamya putty also used to fill in any gaps.
in some cases the whole of the sides were removed using a Plastic cutter/scriber/squawker....whatever you wish to call it. this does lead to the need to fill in the top edge of the side with putty so there is no unsightly gaps.
In the case of the D88 the bow end was filed flat and then filled with styrene, as this was a flat ended Brake Third.
In the  case of the D118 I removed the sides completely and changed the handedness of the vehicle, just to have some more variety.

The 2 pictures below show the shells assembled but NOT sanded or puttied off yet.
In order from top to bottom in both pics:
D95 BE as is.
D88 Flat Ended
E128 BE
