A bit more work done.

I have been wanting a first come hell or high water and the drawings for them are not readily around. So after literally spending 1/2 day going through mags that I don't have indexes for, I am sitting in front of the TV just flicking through a A4 lever Arch folder and what do I find at the back of the folder...........a drawing for a 54' A 18 first  which was a conversion from the articulated set done about 1936.

Judging by the looks of it someone has been kind enough to send me a copy long ago.
Likely that I have asked, and been sent a hard copy, so my thanks to whoever it was.

Anyway here 'tis:





This was made from just a Composite, cut up a little bit.

All good fun!

The Start

Well, this is the start of my blog on the building of Thame. This layout is being fitted into a 20x30' shed. It is as accurate as I can determine from the info to hand and within reason particularly between the road bridge by the station and the road bridge at the other end of the yard.   Unfortunately  due to the space constraints I have had to curve the tracks at each end where in reality they are basically straight for all intents at purposes. Point control is planned to be a take on wire in the tube, except I will be using a plastic type of quad as cranks. Electrics are analogue. Some pics of the work to date: Not sure why the pics are B&W, but will update when I find out.

GUILTY

As the header says: Guilty. I have been slack updating the blog.....excuse, I have been busy! Believe it or not, the best half has allowed me to have some modelling space in the house, rather than be out in the studio while she is alone....so here is the worktable currently...Bless this mess! The Cream has been painted in my eagerness, but I forgot to fit the bowends into the ends so that is what  is being done at the moment. I also forgot to trim back 2 of the watertanks on the rooves to the correct size, so that is now also done and 2 of the 3x D118, I neglected to fill in 2 windows on the guards doors on each side which is now also rectified. A couple of more pics. It is slow and at times tedious BUT will be worth the effort in the long run. The chassis have also been started. I weighed up the pros and cons and have decided  to do it the following way. I have cut out all the stuff between the chassis leaving just the trusses and inserting a replacement...
